About the 'Building Better Dads' Program
The Fatherhood Project's 'Building Better Dads' program is a comprehensive father-focused ante natal and post natal education, support and mentoring course.

The aim of the course is to encourage active and positive engagement of fathers in their children’s lives, as well as healthy relationships with their partners as they embark on sharing the journey of parenthood.

The course has been developed over the past four years, in cooperation with multi-agencies including North Coast Area Health and is facilitated by skilled mentors who are experienced fathers.
Who Should Attend 'Building Better Dads'
'Building Better Dads' has been designed for the following groups of fathers:

  • Expectant fathers at any stage of pregnancy
  • New fathers

Course Overview
'Building Better Dads' has been developed to provide fathers with:

  • Essential practical skills, information and knowledge that builds confidence
  • Important health education
  • An opportunity to discuss how to manage their changing relationships

Course Structure
'Building Better Dads' is a 4-week course comprising of 3 ante natal sessions and 1 post natal session. Group sessions run for approximately 2-3 hours and our mentors are available in between sessions to provide support and mentoring by telephone.
